Search of William Momtazian’s Home, A Baha’i Citizen in Shiraz
HRANA News Agency – On Wednesday, 18 Farvardin [7 April], following the arrest of seven Baha’i citizens in Shiraz on Tuesday, the home of William Momtazian—the father-in-law of Soroush Abadi, a Baha’i citizen detained by security forces—was searched and a number of personal belongings, including a computer hard drive, cell phones, electronics, books, and Baha’i related works were confiscated. On Tuesday night, 17 Farvardin [6 April], Saied Ettehad, Ghasem Masoumi, Siamak Honarvar, Soroush Abadi, Sedigheh Aghdasi, Aliyyeh Foroutan and Behrouz Farzandi, seven Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz, were arrested by intelligence agents and transferred to a detention center in the city. During the time of their arrest, the officers searched the homes of these citizens and took some of their personal belongings with them.
According to the HRANA news agency, the news organ of the Iranian Association of Human Rights Activists, on Wednesday, 18 Farvardin 1400 [7 April 2021], the home of William Momtazian, a Baha’i citizen living in Shiraz, was searched by the security forces.
The home of this Baha’i citizen was searched following the arrest of 7 Baha’i citizens living in Shiraz, including Soroush Abadi, the son-in-law of the Momtazian family. According to a source close to Mr. Momtazian’s family, the officers had a warrant at the time of entering the Baha’i family’s home, which they had used the day before for the arrest of Soroush Abadi, and they claimed that, “because this warrant is a permit to search the ‘home and hideout of the accused’, they are also allowed to enter their house.”
After searching the home, the officers seized and confiscated a number of the family’s personal belongings, including computer hard drives, cell phones, electronics, books, and Baha’i related works.
On Tuesday night, 17 Farvardin 1400 [6 April 2021], Behrouz Farzandi, Saied Ettehad, Ghasem Masoumi, Siamak Honarvar, Soroush Abadi, Sedigheh Aghdasi, and Aliyyeh Foroutan, Baha’is living in Shiraz, were arrested by intelligence agents at their homes, and transferred to a detention center in Shiraz.
