Shiraz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor: Baha’is Imprisoned in Shiraz Are Accused of Propaganda Against the Regime

Shiraz - Kayhan Reporter:

Three Baha’is in Shiraz Prison have been arrested and imprisoned on charges of propaganda against the Islamic Republic.

Hojatoleslam Jaber Baneshi, the public prosecutor of Shiraz, said, “Unfortunately, some foreign media and enemies of the regime have [stated that] the charges against the detainees are ideological and religious, while these people were in close contact with illegal groups and propagandizing against the regime of the Islamic Republic. He said, “Three of these Baha’is who are in Tehran were forming illegal groups, and deceiving people to propagandize against the regime, and they were identified and arrested.”

He added, “Propaganda against the government is neither permitted nor acceptable in any country or government system. No country has an open political, ideological and religious space as much as our country, but we will not allow anyone to abuse this space and propagandize against the Islamic Republic.”

Baneshi concluded by saying, “Action against security is the red line of the regime, and anyone who wants to cross this red line and take action against national security will be dealt with, no matter what their belief, religion or religious view.”
