Association, Friendship and Camaraderie With Baha’is Is Against Islamic Teachings / Baha’is Are Infidels and Apostates

The representative of the people of East Azerbaijan in the Assembly of Experts, stating that the Baha’i sect had been created and prepared by colonialism, said, “Association, befriending and camaraderie with the Baha’is is against Islamic teachings.”

In an interview with the Tasnim political correspondent, Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed Shabestari, the representative of the people of East Azerbaijan in the Assembly of Experts, said, “The perverse Baha’i sect is sculpted, built and prepared by colonialism. The leaders of this perverse sect have no origin or basis to prove their claims that Muhammad-Ali [Ali Muhammad] Bab was the Lord of the Age, and therefore their claims are baseless.”

He continued by emphasizing that this sect could not be known as a religion; Baha’ism is a political sect created by the colonialists.

The Friday imam of Tabriz, stating that colonialists such as the British created the Baha’i sect to achieve their sinister aspirations in various countries, including Iran, added, “Some people were deceived and misled by the followers of this sect, but it must be said that the followers of this sect are not Muslims; they are infidels and apostates and have [been ruled impure].”

Ayatollah Mojtahed Shabestari, in response to a question about the ruling in Islam on associating with Baha’is, said, “According to the rules in Islam, associating with infidels should only be done by necessity, to the [smallest] extent possible, because their morals and thoughts may permeate among Muslims.”

About the meeting of Faezeh Hashemi, daughter of Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, with one of the senior leaders of this sect, named Fariba Kamalabadi, he continued, “Association, friendship and camaraderie with Baha’is is against Islamic teachings, because our religion has not allowed us to do so.”

The representative of the people of East Azerbaijan in the Assembly of Experts stressed that one should associate only with infidels and apostates as a matter of necessity. He said, “It is not right or permissible to support members and strengthen a sect whose teachings are contrary to Islamic practice.”
