Thursday, 13 Mordad 1367 [4 August 1988]

In the Name of God

Head of the Imam’s Parole Board – Deputy Leader Ayatollah Montazeri

Subject- The imprisonment of [Mrs.] Molouk Khadem, daughter of Mosa, [at] Evin [Prison], Office  216, Section 3, Room 107

I would cordially convey that I am Shamsi Khadem, 92 years old, the mother of Molouk Khadem, who is 70 years old, and who has been my only care-giver. Since 2 Mordad 1362 [24 July 1983] she has been imprisoned because of being Baha’i. According to her file, she is condemned to ten years of imprisonment. Now that Imam Khomeini has announced the Amnesty Act, by reviewing her records, her sentence has been reduced to five years, which ended on 2 Mordad 1367 [ 24 July 1983].  I earnestly request the deputy leader, Ayatollah Montazeri, to order her release and illumine my eyes by [allowing me to have] another glance at her face, during these last days of my life. I will pray, requesting the pure and holy souls of the saints and righteous ones to grant you a prolonged life.

The frail servant,

Shamsi Khadem
