Important Statement:  I Condemn Publication of Names of Baha’is of Shiraz

In recent days, a 31-page list of Baha’is of Shiraz has been widely circulated.  The list, which is intended to incite religious sentiments against the Baha’is, is accompanied with a number of religious decrees about [condemning] the Baha’i sect by Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Revolution [Khamene’i], and a number of Sources of Emulation [high ranking clerics].  This list provides full description of personal data on some of the Baha’is from various occupations, such as painters, welders, carpenters, physicians, and hospital workers, together with their exact home or work addresses.

The above move is directed by a number of known entities and is the beginning of a new plot that can have ugly and unpleasant consequences, such as attacks on the above Baha’is and promotion of organized violence.  I condemn this conspiracy, which is still in its infancy, and invite the attention of provincial and national officials in judicial, intelligence, and security agencies to the dangerous dimension and complex nature of this move.

The publication of the above list is aimed at generating tension and engendering a wave of international opposition against the Islamic Republic of Iran.  This should be viewed as a prelude to an organized plot against the national security and the network of people behind it from whatever rank and institution need to be identified and prosecuted.

I assume that one of the main objectives behind this conspiracy is to harm my intellectual and political reputation and to prevent the continuation of my research and publication work.
