Celebrating the Birth of the Holy Prophet in the Military Governorate of Tehran
On the occasion of the blessed birthday of His Holiness Khatam al-Anbiya [the Last Messenger], peace be upon Him and His family, on behalf of Brigadier General Teymur Bakhtiar, the esteemed military governor of Tehran, a lavish and glorious celebration was held at the military governorate (Haziratu’l-Quds) last Thursday, in which the prominent clergy, Hojatolislams, the cabinet ministers, the representatives of the senate and the national consultative assemblies, Commander General Hedayat, the chief of staff, and other commanders and officers of the army, the merchants, and the craftsmen of different guilds and classes of the city, participated with bouquets of flowers and cheerful faces.
The commander of the military governorate congratulated all the guests. At 7:00 p.m., the military governor’s hall was decorated in a very interesting way and more than 50,000 people had gathered in it. One of the guests cheered in the name of His Majesty the King, and the silence of the parliament was broken. At this time, the sentiments and emotions of the people had reached their peak, and they first expressed their [good wishes] for His Majesty’s health by their prayers and then with continuous applause. The poets then recited poems written for this occasion, which attracted the attention of the audience. Then the Islamic preachers and speakers went to the pulpit and gave sermons about the position and rank of the Holy Prophet …
The celebration was almost over, but the crowd was growing, so that there was no place for the guests to sit in the military governor’s hall, and people had embraced Commander Bakhtiar like the jewel of the ring, and photographers and media reporters were taking pictures. And people confirmed the occasion with continuous applause.
It was 8:00 in the [evening] when the governor’s hall was somewhat empty. Commander Bakhtiar came to the prominent clergy and had sweets and tea with them .... The assembly ended with a prayer for the monarch.
