Prosecutor-General on vital issues of country

Tehran (IRNA) – The Islamic Republic is so strong today that it can easily withstand its opponents' criticisms, said Prosecutor General, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Hussein Musavi Tabrizi in an exclusive interview with Keyhan daily Monday. …

On the Bahais, he said the Islamic Republic had no intention of reacting to the propaganda of the news imperialism of Iran's treatment of Bahais. However, he said, it planned to shed light on the nature of the group for those who were mistaken about them.

"Although the news imperialism accuses Iran of executing the Bahais due to their beliefs, Iran did not do so, and has time and again announced this. He noted that some of them were spies and were punished and that Iran had evidence and documents attesting to their spying for foreign powers, and at times receiving aid and financial support from them. He said a recent plot of the Bahais' was hoarding things needed by the people, such as automobile parts, etc.

He said the Islamic republic of Iran does not recognize Bahaism, stressing that the Bahais are considered conspiratorial group by the officials of his office.  (to be contd)
