Semnan: Arrest of a Baha’i

On 8 March 2009 (18 Esfand 1387), the agents of the Ministry of Intelligence arrested Mr. Pouya Tebyanian, a 24-year-old Baha’i resident of Semnan, at his workplace, and two computers belonging to his employer were confiscated. Subsequently, agents went to Mr. Tebyanian’s home and, after searching the house, confiscated his Baha’i papers and documents. The reason for his arrest at this time is unknown.

Mr. Tebyanian’s house was in one of twenty neighbourhoods that were attacked on 15 December 2008 (25 Azar 1387). Mr. Tebyanian is the fifth member of the group to be arrested. Mrs. Sahba Rezvani (Fanaiyan) was arrested on the same day and Mr. Adel Fanaiyan, Mr. Abbas Nourani and Mr. Taherverdi Eskandarian were arrested on 4 January 2009 (15 Dey 1387).
