News of the City of Yazd

…To keep the law and order of the City of Yazd, due to the severe religious fanaticism of the inhabitants on the one hand, and on the other hand [the fact that it is] the centre of the Baha’i sect, is very difficult and often it is the cause of carnage. Examples of this are the murder of Mohammad Fakhkhar and the incident [massacre in the Village of Hormozak] in the district of Abarghou.

Within the past two years, particularly since the beginning of the speeches of Mr. Falsafi in the month of Ramadan, this situation has become even more intense and there is always the fear of dangers, but due to the foresight of Mr. Farhang Heshmati, the head of the police headquarters, and the efforts of Mr. Zandiani, head of the police station of Branch 1, full security has now been established.

In any case, the services of the above-mentioned gentlemen provide much satisfaction to the religious communities. All the inhabitants of Yazd demand that their actions be acknowledged and appreciated.
