New Information on the Date of Hearing of the “Yaran”

Latest news from Iran

Recently, a deputy prosecutor in Tehran, who is investigating the case of the “Yaran”, informed their families that he would need at least another month to complete the case, which currently includes several boxes of evidence, and that their trial would not be held earlier than that date (late April – Ordibehesht). He also stated that the Yaran’s lawyers would have access to the files once the case was completed.

On 6 March 2009 (16 Esfand 1387), the ISNA news agency quoted the deputy security chief of the Tehran prosecutor’s office as saying, “These people are accused of creating illegal and espionage organizations in favour of foreigners. The seven defendants in this case have been convicted, and with the issuance of the indictment, the case is likely to be sent to court next week.”

To date, there has been no evidence of any indictment against these individuals.
