The Governor General of Khorasan and the Baha’is of Mashhad

The honourable newspaper of Aram, on the first page of issue 66, has an article entitled “Ram and the Baha’is of Mashhad”, which is published below.

Remarks and Observations

Ram and the Baha’is of Mashhad

It was reported that the governor general of Khorasan, Mr. Ram, in the religious and holy city of Mashhad, where the slightest act against custom and Sharia may lead to dire negative consequences, has sided with the Baha’i sect and is supporting them. I would like to ask the responsible authorities whether Mr. Ram’s action was based on an instruction and recommendation, or has he acted personally, and who will be responsible for consequences should any incident occur?

This may cause misunderstandings for those outside of Mashhad, and those who do not know Mr. Ram may think that Baha’is have been supported, strengthened, and backed. But the people of Mashhad, who are observing and witnessing closely the course of the action, are well aware that not only is this an intentional matter, but such misrepresentations cannot be ascribed to Mr. Ram, who is an ascetic, pious, and religious man.

Mr. Ram is essentially an honourable man who is chaste and adherent to the religious principles, and the fact that he is willing to remain in this post is primarily to receive grace from the court of His Holiness Imam Reza (PBUH), and secondly is to serve his fellow citizens and advance their welfare. The people of this city are proud of such a worthy governor general.

Mr. Ram, with his belief in the Jafari religion [sect], considers it a crime to side with and support the perverse Baha’i sect. Before the recent rally in the centre, he prevented the Baha’is from forming their gathering, and only this action changed the decision of the religious communities.

Therefore, the information received by the esteemed editor of Aram newspaper is contrary to truth and reality, and we expect that Colonel Yomni will compensate and repay Mr. Ram for its insults in a future issue.  At the same time, I would add the fact that the actual number of the Baha’is in Mashhad does not exceed a couple of score.
