The celebration of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad at Tehran’s Military Governorate Headquarters

Last Thursday coincided with the blessed occasion of the birth of the Prophet Mohammad in Iran and a great deal of festivities and lightings were organized for this occasion, particularly in Tehran.  One of these feasts was organized by General Bakhtiar, the military governor of Tehran, at the Military Governorate Headquarters, which was the previous place owned by the Baha’is and “the flock of God”!

According to the announcement and the invitations sent to people, on the afternoon of 17 Rabi 'al-Awwal [3 November 1955], a huge crowd from around the city came to the Military Governorate Headquarters.  The observers of this celebration have acknowledged that if it was not unique, it was definitely one of the rarest celebrations.

The clerics, clergy, representatives of the [National Consultative] Assembly, military officers, businesspersons, aristocrats and different ranks of people, came in groups, participated in this festivity, were warmly received by General Bakhtiar and the officers of the Governorate.

This was a very appropriate action on the part of the military governor of Tehran and very commendable.  We request that…. [Unfinished]
