Mr. Mehdi Bazargan, the Honourable Prime Minister,

Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran

This is to respectfully inform your high office regarding the unjust confiscation of holy places and properties belonging to the Baha’i community; we have sent a number of petitions requesting justice, but to no avail, unfortunately.

The aggressiveness of those who abuse increases in severity at an alarming rate, day by day, such that these lawless, irreparable actions now take place constantly.  It is not known what gains or benefits the excessive transgressions and such behaviour bring to the culprits.

For example, a few days ago in Arak, intruders attacked a house where, sixty years earlier, a defenceless Baha’i family of seven, which included a couple and their children and a nursing baby, were attacked at night in their sleep, murdered, and atrociously beheaded.  Since it was not safe to bury them elsewhere at that time, their bodies were interred in their home.  Recently, the same house was attacked, bulldozed, the bones of the dead were thrown out, and the building became one with the dust.  The culprits continue with their abusive behaviours.

Because actions such as destruction of graves is unacceptable and considered a sin in the holy faith of Islam, and it is also a crime in the sight of law, we petition your honour to prescribe, in any way possible, a fair and just investigation into this matter in order to strictly prevent such unacceptable actions from happening again.

Yours sincerely,

On behalf of the Community of the Baha’is of Iran

Dr. Hosein Naji      Manouher Ghaem-Maghami
