Office of the Islamic Revolution [of Iran] Document Center
Respectfully, we convey the following in relation to the articles published on pages 1, 2 and the last page of Kayhan Newspaper on Tuesday, 18 Shahrivar 1359 [9 September 1980] on the subject of the execution of seven [so-called] spies in Yazd.
The complete innocence of the seven Baha’is mentioned in the newspaper is unequivocally clear and evident to the Baha’i community, and the allegations brought against them were based purely on selfish motives and religious fanaticism. No form of legal or religious documentation or evidence exists in the case files of the accused. Furthermore, the Office of the Prosecutor of the Islamic Revolution of Yazd has considered the reports provided by the Office of the Islamic Revolution Document Center as the evidence to support the charges of espionage brought against these individuals.
The Baha’i community is seriously intent upon a thorough investigation and an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the event, the refutation of the allegations, proving the innocence of the accused and restoring their good name and reputation. We therefore request, in case that claim of Office of the Prosecutor of the Islamic [Revolution] of Yazd is approved by your centre, you kindly send a copy of the existing documents to Post Box 305 in Tehran. In case [it is not approved], based on your attention and consideration for the implementation of the standards of justice and Islamic equity as well as the observance of human rights, you will surely refute the claims of the mentioned court, and will inform us at the above-given address.
With deep appreciation,
On behalf of the Baha’i community of Iran
