In the Name of God

Date: 3 Mordad 1371 [25 July 1992]

Honourable Secretary-General of the United Nations, the advocate of the oppressed people of the world.

I humbly submit that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has not paid my rightful pension since Khordad 1361 [June 1982] because I am a Baha’i. This religion [Baha’i] is an international religion; has a representative in the United Nations and is officially recognized. I served in the [National] Oil Company, which is now the Ministry of Oil, for thirty years, four months and two days. I was employed on 14 Aban 1329 [5 November 1950] and retired on 15 Esfand 1359 [6 March 1981]. The Head Office of the Pension Department in Tehran, with the approval of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, sanctioned an amount of 86,300 rials as my pension and this amount was paid to me until the end of Ordibehesht 1361 [April/May 1982]. Later on, because I have been identified with “the perverse Baha’i sect”, they stopped my pension.

I referred and wrote to the Iranian authorities; either they do not respond to my letters or they give a negative answer. Is the Baha’i Faith heretical in the eyes of other divine religions? The heretic is the one who does not believe in the unity of God and does not consider the Prophets to be the true Educators of mankind; hence, I humbly request you to investigate my inalienable rights, and the fact that they deducted pension contributions from my salary. What was my wrongdoing during the period of my service?

Did not the followers of Nimrod violate human rights with His Holiness Abraham and his followers? Did not the Pharaohs do the same to the Prophet Moses and His followers? Did not Annas and Caiaphas do the same and oppress Jesus and His followers? Now, we Baha’is have been subjected to the same oppression. I am enclosing three pages of letters sent to me from the relevant Iranian departments. Please check whether, according to international law, it is true that we should be subjected to human rights violations with the documents [presented] by the Iranian government and be deprived of our inalienable rights, even [be deprived] of public health, which should be available to everyone, according to Article 29 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
