Factors That Have Delayed the Use of Foreign Capital in Iran
Mr. Entezam, the minister of foreign affairs, had stated at the banquet of the Association of American Friends of the Middle East that, “The new law on attracting foreign capital will greatly aid Iran’s economy”, and it was decided that the authorities of the Iranian embassy in Washington would also take some action in this regard.
But according to a private letter received from the United States, the events surrounding the Baha’is in Iran prompted a group of the Baha’is who are living in the United States and are unaware of the real situation in Iran, and not recognizing that the Baha’i problems had been resolved in a safe and orderly manner, to make it known that there is guarantee for American capital investment in Iran, and they have forced the media to publish the [information]. Therefore, it is unlikely that American capitalists, as expected, would invest their capital in Iran.
