In Defence of the Baha’i Political Sect, Once Again Reagan Attacked Iran
New York: Kayhan reporter: Last night, the American President Reagan once again shed crocodile tears for deceived members of the Baha’i political sect and spoke in defence of their so-called lost rights.
While speaking on the International Human Rights Day, he said that the members of the Baha’i sect had been executed in Iran. So far, 198 Baha’is have been killed, 767 imprisoned, 10,000 have become homeless and 25,000 were forced to leave the country. This is not the first time that Reagan has sympathized with the destiny of those affiliated with the Baha’i political sect in Iran. In 1983 also, while warning Iran in a statement, he asked all other countries in the world to ask Iran to refrain from executing 22 Baha’is who had been arrested for spying for Israel.
What is significant is the influence of this group on the White House and the American Congress, and their activities. In spite of their claim to be a religious and not a political entity, their affiliation with the imperialist assemblies is obvious. On 16 November 1982 [25 Aban 1362 ], based on a report by the Washington Post, five members of the Congress of the United States of America suggested to Reagan [that he should] prevent the punishment of the Baha’is in Iran through international action.
Within the last two years, the representative of this sect has found a new sympathiser in its activities, who is the ambassador-at-large of Masoud Rajavi in diplomatic centres. The Baha’i representative has been active for a few months alongside Kazem Rajavi, going from the office of one representative of the United Nations to another in New York, and from one party to another, trying to attract the support of the representatives of the governments and imperialist assemblies. Of course, the Zionist media networks have done their best to report the news of the activities of these two. The “Jewish Press”, a special publication of the American Jews, recently wrote that the Baha’i leaders in America and other world countries await the results of the work of the Human Rights Committee to be published and expect the world to pay attention to the “massacre” of this 300-thousand minority of Baha’is in Iran, and condemn it.
This expectation was raised this week with the reference of the Human Rights Committee in its resolution and Reagan’s crocodile tears. The representative of Baha’is and Kazem Rajavi headed to occupied Palestine and France with diplomatic gestures to report to the Haifa Council in Israel, and the “Resistance Council” established in Paris. We mention that Ruhi Maxwell, wife of Shoghi Effendi, head of the Baha’is of the world, declared in 1981 that the future of Baha’is and Israel are connected like the links of a chain.
It is important to note that Iranian authorities have repeatedly declared that no one is prosecuted and punished in the Islamic Republic for their beliefs, and regarding the punishment of some members of this political sect, it has been clearly announced that these people are merely punished for their espionage and treason activities.
