Response of Hojjatol-Islam Khalkhali to the talks of the representative of Gonbad-e Kavus

Hojjatol-Islam Khalkhali, the representative of the people of Qom, responded last week in the Islamic Consultative Assembly to the talks of the representative of Gonbad-e Kavus by using Article 66 of the regulations. The text of his speech, which was printed in Kayhan, is as follows:

“Mr. Nawruzi, the representative of Gonbad-e Kavus, has said some things about me that had no connection to government affairs. He said that there was a file, [based on which,] with no investigation, [I], Mr. Khalkhali, imprisoned him for five years. I have to say that, that person was one of the macebearers of Hojabr Yazdani, a local of Sangsar from the perverse Baha’i sect, who had come to Gonbad-e Kavus and was cooperating with the Organisation of the Torkaman People’s Fadaian in the massacre of the Revolutionary Guards and army personnel. The Revolutionary Guards arrested him at the time he committed the crime and delivered him to the court. However, after considering his repentance, and owing to the fact that he has a family, he was sentenced to five years in prison, although his crime was much more serious than this”...
