Israeli calls for more pressure on Iran

The Israeli government and Zionist groups in America have called on U.S. President Bill Clinton to intensify his hostile stance against Iran.

Washington Post reporting on the issue said, "the pressures on Clinton to adopt a more hostile stance are increasing and these pressures mainly arise from Israel and other U.S. allies".

According to this newspaper the issue of human rights often used as a pretext for exerting political pressure on Washington's adversaries; Iran's objection to the Arab Israeli peace process; and Tehran's legitimate position on the treacherous elements of the misguided Bahai sect, are amongst the issues the Clinton administration is trying to use to smear Iran. It wrote, "despite pressures from Israel, the U.S. government has until now, restricted itself to verbal attacks against Iran on human rights issues and, influenced by the efforts of some Iranian opposition groups, has expressed concern at Tehran's opposition to the Arab/Israeli peace process."

Meanwhile, Al Gore, the U.S. vice-president, has openly expressed support for the Bahai sect and has criticized Iran for restricting the sect's activities. In addition, a group formed from members of both the U.S. Republican and Democratic parties has called for a more hostile attitude to be adopted by the U.S. government against Iran. …
