Promoting Obscenity; The Main Goal of Baha’i Television

Habib Sabet’s TV station, despite operating under the name, “Iran TV Station”, was run by the foreigners. One of the main goals of the Baha’i Faith in launching the TV station was to promote obscenity, which was carried out in various forms and in different ways. This move was so blatant and reckless that it was met with protests from magazines such as “Roshanfekr”, which also published some indecent images:

Because on page 23 of Roshanfekr Magazine, on Thursday, 5 Khordad 1339 [26 May 1960], some topics were published with the headline, ‘The Anger And Grievances of the People of Tehran Against the Obscenity of Iranian Television Programmes’, which resulted in the harsh and disappointing criticism of the readers of the magazine, issues contrary to the principles of the country’s press had been published. Since the Iranian Television Station now operates under the supervision of this organization, by drawing your attention to the meaning of the sentence, ‘Although the law stipulates that the transmitter must be subject to the opinion and order of the General Directorate of Advertising and the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs, it cannot be believed that the worthless and obscene programmes that are broadcast are in accordance with the orders and tastes of the General Directorate of Advertising,’ we ask you to order the necessary measures to be taken in this regard so that in such cases, the aspects and dimensions that are desired by the high officials of the country are observed and implemented in a timely manner.
