Forty individuals accused of Baha’ism were arrested in Egypt

According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, 40 people have been arrested in Egypt who are suspected of being members of a Baha’i organization, according to Mayo, the Egyptian weekly paper.

According to the French news agency from Cairo, Mayo Weekly, the organ of the ruling National Democratic Party has also written, “This group also possessed a number of Baha’i propagation pamphlets, which are banned in Egypt.”

Mayo added, in closing, that members of this organization had been active in several cities in Egypt, including, Cairo, Alexandria and Port Said.

This incident took place shortly after the warning of the imam of Al-Azhar Mosque, Sheikh Jad-ul Haq, emphasising the necessity of implementing the Sharia law in Egypt.
