Jamal Kashani

Executed in Karaj on 9th December 1984


At the age of 7, Jamal Kashani’s family pioneered to Gonbad-e Kavus, Golestan.  Then at the age of 16, he moved to Tehran to train as a mechanic.  He later married and lived with his family in Dehghan-Vila, a suburb of Karaj.  He was a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly[1]

On 24 July 1984, Jamal Kashani was arrested.  He was imprisoned at Evin prison for four months and tortured severely.  He was executed on 9 December 1984, together with 5 other Baha’is, Enayatollah Haghighi, Rouhollah Taalim, Firouz Athari, Jamshid Pour-Ustadkar, and Gholam- Hosein Farhand.  Their bodies were buried by the authorities.  His family were not informed of his execution; they discovered it when his father went to the prison for a scheduled family visit. Their bodies were not returned to their families; they were possibly buried by the authorities.
