Saffar-Harandi’s Memo About Ayatollah Montazeri’s Support for the Monafeghin

Former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Hossein Saffar-Harandi has reacted to a quote from a member of Ayatollah Montazeri’s office about his assistance to the families of Monafeghin and Baha’is.

According to Jahan News, the full text of Hossein Saffar-Harandi’s memo, which was provided to Tasnim exclusively, with the title “This Stain Does Not Stick to the Mantle of Authority” is as follows:

Shouldn’t they receive a response from the trustees and elders in the field of religion?

Since the convicts [who belong to] the perverse Baha’i sect and their families are directly under the protection of the global network of this colonial Israeli sect, concern about the fate of their families is unwarranted and a sign of naivety, just as this concern about the Monafeghin family is unfounded. If there is a responsibility somewhere, it belongs to the responsible government institutions and not the marjayiat [religious authorities]. ...
