In the Recent Events in Tabriz, 330 People Were Arrested

The main perpetrators of the Tabriz incident will be announced soon and their confessions will be made available to the public.

The director general of justice administration of the Province of East Azerbaijan, stating that the traces of Israel can be seen in the recent events in Tabriz, said, “The names of the main perpetrators of the events in Tabriz will be announced soon and some of their confessions will be made available to the public.”

According to the ILNA correspondent Hojatoleslam Najaf Aghazadeh, who spoke to reporters on the occasion of Judiciary Week, the number of people arrested in the recent events in Tabriz was announced as a total of 330 people. He said, “Of this number, about 80 to 85 people were involved in the incident and will be tried in the coming days.”

He said that out of 330 people, 20 to 25 were the main causes of incitement and destruction, and some of these detainees are Baha’is or Communists; two are also affiliated with Israel.”

Hojatoleslam Aghazadeh, referring to the detainees who are affiliated with Israel, continued, “Since these two people have committed other crimes―and due to the importance of their crimes―the case should be investigated in Tehran....”

He stated that the detainees of the recent incidents in Tabriz will be tried in the revolutionary courts, referring to some incidents that took place in other cities of East Azerbaijan Province in this regard. He said, “In Marand, nine people, and in Ahar, five people, were arrested and a number of those detained are being held for trial.”

The director-general of justice administration of the Province of East Azerbaijan Province denied the rumours about the death of a person or persons in the incidents in East Azerbaijan Province, stating that the names of the main perpetrators of the Tabriz incidents will be announced soon and some of their confessions will be made available to the public. He said, “Only one of the witnesses was in serious condition, due to a blow to the head, which was probably caused by a bullet. Fortunately, his condition is improving.”
