Attempt to Seal the Baha’i Elderly Centre in Golshahr, Karaj / Photo Report

HRANA News Agency – Following efforts in recent weeks of the authorities to prevent the operation of a nursing home in Karaj, which belongs to the Baha’is, officials of the Public Places Supervision Office and Staff of Karaj Welfare Organization tried to transfer the elderly residents to other welfare centres and seal the premises. It is said that despite the fact that the officials of the Welfare Organization also had the order of the Karaj Prosecutor’s Office, they could not carry out this order due to the resistance of the elderly Baha’is who are being cared for in this place.

On Thursday, 6 Tir 1398 [27 June 2019], officers of the Karaj Public Places Supervision Office tried to seal the nursing home in Golshahr, Karaj, belonging to the Baha’is. After the efforts of the Karaj Public Places Supervision Office to seal the premises on 12 Tir [3 July], the employees of the Welfare Organization, operating under the order of the city prosecutor, were present at the nursing home and tried to transfer the elderly Baha’i residents to other centres belonging to the Welfare organization.

The residents of the centre, who have been cared for in this place for many years, today chanted slogans calling for an end to the harassment of the elderly Baha’i residents of the centre.
