An interview with Hujjatol-Islam Khatami, the minister of [culture] and Islamic guidance, the deputy and the cultural representatives of this ministry

…Hujjatol-Islam, Mohammad Khatami, minister of [culture and] Islamic guidance and Mr. Mahmoud Borujerdi, the deputy of this ministry, together with the cultural representatives of the Ministry of Islamic Guidance abroad, arrived yesterday morning in the presence of Imam Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic Revolution. In this meeting, the minister of Islamic [culture and] guidance first gave his brief report about the current affairs of the ministry. Then the relevant issues pertaining to the cultural representatives of the Ministry of Islamic [Culture and] Guidance were brought to the attention of the nation’s imam. Consequently, Imam Khomeini told them in some statements:

I hope you are able to show the true face of Islam as it truly is. Nowadays, governments want to expose Iran to the world in a repulsive way. The mass media and notable organizations, when they see the triumph of Iran and Islam, or when they realize how much oppression we have endured from Iraq, falsely raise the issue of Iran’s violation of human rights and claim that the Baha’is do not have any kind of freedom in Iran, and they are in prison because they are Baha’is. They even say that they kill pregnant women there in the streets. Let them say whatever they will; you should know that the deprived people of the world, meaning those who are not allied with the governments, are with us. In the end, Islam has opened its own path and is showing its true face to all. Each and every one of us, too, should try hard to the extent possible, until the truth of Islam comes to light. Each one of us must, according to our power, step forward in the path of achieving Islam.
