Instructions of the Ministry of the Interior Regarding Meticulous Obedience to the Imam’s Recent Decree to All Governors across Country

Following the recent decree of the imam, the minister of the interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran has communicated a memorandum to all the governors general, governors and heads of districts, the content of which is as follows:

In the Name of God –

Following the recent decree, dated 16 Azar 1360 [7 December 1981], from the Imam of Ummah [Imam Khomeini], the great leader of the Islamic Revolution and the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, all governors general, governors and heads of districts are notified that as the highest representatives of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to supervise all the administrative and political affairs of their localities, and to ensure compliance with the religious rules, and proper enforcement of law [they] must strictly and seriously prevent the illegal actions of any individual, group and authority who, contrary to the justice system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the orders and instructions of the Imam of the Ummah, or without the permission of the official ruler of Sharia and the information of the governor general, and regardless of their judicial, political and social effects, take any arbitrary action and introduce the offenders to the judicial authorities. 

Any negligence and laxity by the officers of the Ministry of the Interior in proper implementation of the law and disregard for the imam’s command regarding the prevention of invasion of the individual’s property, life and honour will result in severe punishment.
