Protestant Churches Defend the Baha’is of Iran

London Times, July 15

Dr. Robert [Rossi], the Archbishop of Canterbury, , in a message to Bani Sadr, president of Iran, concerning the fate of the Baha’is, called his attention to the destruction of the graves, confiscation of the possessions and kidnapping of the Baha’i leaders.

The federation of the Protestant churches, in a report published in Zurich, admired the courage (!) of the Baha’is, praising them as peace-loving and loyal citizens who, from the time of the deposed shah, have been subject to suffering and agony!!.. The activities of the Baha’i community with the confiscation of the Investment Company of Nawnahalan, with 15,000 shareholders, have become paralysed, and presently the members of this sect are being convicted of the following, for which they are being prosecuted:

  1. Dissemination of indecency
  2. Supporting Zionism
  3. Antagonism toward Islam
  4. Sending money to Israel
