Eshraghiyyeh Forouhar

Eshraghiyyeh Forouhar was born into a Baha’i family.  In 1970 she and her husband pioneered to Gohardasht, Karaj.  They were both members of the Local Spiritual Assembly[1] of the Baha’is of Gohardasht.  On 1 August 1981, their home was raided, and they were both arrested.  Mahmoud was imprisoned in Kanun-e-Javanan prison.  Eshraghiyyeh Forouhar was first taken to a women’s prison in Karaj and then transferred to Kanun-e-Javanan.  After some time, she was moved to a police prison and returned again to Kanun-e-Javanan prison.  Mahmoud was also transferred, he was sent to Ghezel Hesar prison and then back again to Kanun-e-Javanan prison.  Finally, after nine months of imprisonment and torture, on 8 May 1982, they were executed by firing squad, together with Badiollah Haghpaykar.  Their bodies were buried in the Baba-Salman cemetery in Karaj by their families and in accordance with Baha’i law.
