The latest report on the conviction of Hamadan prisoners

Latest news from Iran

Following previous reports, on 15 March 2008 (25 Esfand 1386), a court verdict [regarding propaganda against the government of Iran] against Mr. Mozaffar Ayyoubi, Mr. Parviz Seifi, Mr. Shahreza Abbasi, and Mr. Behrouz Rashedi, residents of Hamadan, was overturned in the Court of Appeals. However, by order of the head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Shahroudi, the verdict of the Appellate Court was referred to another Appellate Court, which [confirmed the verdict and the sentence] of the first court. It is reported that on 6 October 2008 (15 Mehr 1387), three of these Baha’i citizens, Parviz Seifi, Shahreza Abbasi, and Behrouz Rashedi, were each sentenced to one year of imprisonment, [which is suspended] for a period of five years, and Mr. Mozaffar Ayyoubi was sentenced to three years of exile to the City of Khash, where he was immediately sent.
