Explanations of “Bamdad-e Emrouz” Council of Writers

In yesterday’s issue on this page an explanation by Mr. Houshang Mahmoudi was published about the mistakes of the writer of the book, “Iran: Revolution in the Name of God”, concerning the Bab and the Baha’is. The Council of Writers of Bamdad, in response to the questions of some readers who had asked the reason for publishing such explanations, announced that, “Publication of this explanation was merely done to demonstrate the free atmosphere of the press during the Islamic Republic, as a long article against the Babi sect was published in issue number 54 of Bamdad [newspaper]”.

It is necessary to explain that, in the opinion of the Council of Writers of Bamdad [newspaper], considering the religious and ideological beliefs of all Bamdad staff, and referring to the written histories we have, the turmoil of the Bab and Baha were [brought about] to penetrate the sacred religion of Islam and [make] an alteration to the true Shia religion and a cause for creating dissension and misguidance amongst the Iranian people. Based on the testimony of the historical documents, the source of this corruption should be sought in the colonialist policies that have always trapped the nations by various means and have subjugated them.

Sometimes by sending their troops, sometimes through economic influence, and, at times, by creating fake and fabricated religions, they have trapped the oppressed nations.

We have seen such examples of fabricating religion in large countries such as India, and have observed the sinister results of these policies in splitting people.

It is noteworthy that the Iranian Muslim nation, at the beginning of the sedition by the Bab and Baha, expressed their decisive opinion; our distinguished clergy have announced their explicit fatwa [verdict], concerning their sedition and there is no need for further explanation.
