Conditions of Pardoning the Prisoners Was Announced for the Occasion of Eid-e Ghorban [Eid al-Adha].

The prisoners who are the subject of a definite court decision by the public and revolutionary courts and the judiciary of the armed forces, according to [this] procedure, are eligible for pardon...

The acting head of the Supreme Court also said: In accordance with the instruction that has been circulated amongst all the public and revolutionary courts and the judiciary of the armed forces, the prisoners who are the subject of a definite court decision are now subject to pardon by His Excellency Ayatollah Montazeri, and will be released from prison, except the groups which are guilty of being anti-revolutionary, drug smugglers, [drug] producers and high-ranking drug distributors, active members of the perverse [Baha’i] sect, spy agents, criminals found guilty of rape, professional hustling, armed robbery, and robbers, embezzlers, bribers and kidnappers [who are not eligible].
