Tonekabon: The release of Mr. Abol-Fazli after completing his prison sentence
Latest news from Iran:
Mr. Badiollah Abol-Fazli, a native of Tonekabon in Mazandaran Province, who had been imprisoned since 2 March 2009 (12 Esfand 1387), was released after serving his sentence. We do not know the exact date of his release. Mr. Abol-Fazli was imprisoned on the charges of “active membership in the Baha’i community”, “propagation of the Baha’i Faith and activities against the Islamic Republic” and “secretly teaching Muslims through Baha’i books and other materials”. In July 2008, Mr. Abol-Fazli, a shopkeeper, was arrested at his workplace by an agent of the Ministry of Intelligence on a baseless work-related charge and was taken to Sari Prison. He was held in solitary confinement for 29 days. During this period, Mr. Abol-Fazli was interrogated, verbally abused, and ridiculed eight times.
