Azadollah (Aziz) Zaydi

Murdered by gun shot in Miandoab on 1st April 1983


Azadollah (Aziz) Zaydi was born in Miandoab in 1928. He lived as a farmer most of his life. During the last years of his life he also bought and sold fruits and herbs at the local fruit market. Despite his lack of education, he served the Local Assembly[1] of Miandoab. He pioneered to Bukan and Maku. He was married and had seven children. In the height of the revolution and attacks on the Baha’is of the area, his house was set on fire.

On 01 April 1983, he was shot to death on his way back from a fruit market in Miandoab.  During the shooting he was with two other Baha’is who were also injured, but were not killed. His body was buried by his family in Miandoab Baha’i cemetery.
