Minister of Guidance Proposes to Replace the Term “Religious Minority”

According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) in the Fars Region, on Wednesday evening, 9 Ordibehesht [29 April], in the presence of a number of artists, media owners and people of culture in Fars Province, Ali Jannati stressed that all Iranians of any religion and belief are considered first class citizens, and it is necessary to use the term “religious compatriots”, rather than “religious minority”.

In part of his speech, Jannati emphasized that he and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in the country are more concerned with religious values than anything else. He said that he considered that society is in need of happiness and vitality and that the holding of 180 concerts and the people’s reception of these programmes is, in itself, proof of this claim.
