Preparation of a public petition

It has been heard that some clerics have prepared a petition in which they have requested the government to banish Baha’is from Iran.

There is no information on the text and content of the petition but is said that the reason for which these clerics have asked the government to banish Baha’is is that because Iran is an Islamic country, no Baha’i should live here.  It is known for certain that [the clerics] warned government that if it delays doing this, they will themselves will take action to banish them.

In response to the petition the government has promised to do whatever is in the interest of the country. Furthermore, the government will not allow any protest in support of or against this issue, because there are a lot of people who will attempt to take advantage of this matter, using fanaticism and anger to advance their [own] goals.
