Zanjan

According to Zanjan newspaper, a certain Haji Mohammad, who was one of the most reputable individuals there and was said to have been a follower of the Bab before, was recently engaged in unloading steel in a caravanserai when an iron rod penetrated his abdomen. He died shortly after. The magistrate close to the governor, Amir Aslan Khan, had sealed his home on the pretext that he was a Babi, and thus his possessions needed to be seized by the court. The brothers of the deceased went to the governor and told him that their brother was a former Babi, and that their assets, which had now been seized, had been shared assets. The governor called for the magistrate and forbade him from confiscating the man’s possessions and asked that all assets be turned over to his brothers. Reportedly, his wealth came to about six thousand tomans.
