Still another from adopted for the subtle erosion of Islamic culture in the fabric of Iranian society was the encouragement given to a variety of heretical religious and pseudo-religious sects such as Babism and Bahaism among others in order to wean Moslems away from the true religion. Another purpose this served was to drive a wedge, or several wedges, among the unity of Moslems and promote discord in general within the Moslem community. Moslems attracted to these new-fangled schools were encouraged to question the prestige of Islam and were no doubt insidiously made to doubt the ideological basis of Islam. …
