Sirous Rowshani

Born:  1925, Tabriz, Azerbaijan

Executed in Tehran on 27th December 1981

Sirous Rowshani was born into a Baha’i family.  When he was 21 years old he entered the Military Academy and studied medicine.  He later worked for the Ministry of Health in Tabriz.  He was a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly[1] of Tabriz.  In 1973 he was transferred to Tehran by the Ministry of Health.  He was elected to the second National Spiritual Assembly[2] of Iran, after the abduction of the members of the first National Spiritual Assembly in August 1980.

A little over a year later, on 13 December 1981 Sirous Rowshani was arrested during a National Spiritual Assembly meeting, together with seven other members, Kamran Samimi, Mahmoud Majzoub, Jalal Azizi, Jinous  Naimat Mahmoudi, Ezzatollah Forouhi, Ghodratollah Rowhani and Mehdi Amin-Amin.  They were executed by the firing squad on 27 December 1981. Their bodies were not returned to their families; they were possibly buried by the authorities.
