Facilitating Asylum For the Followers of the Baha’i Sect of Iran
According to the social cultural correspondent of Aati News, Baha’i elements applying to the UN for asylum previously had to receive a letter of recommendation from the Baha’i organization in Iran [confirming their status as a] Baha’i, so that the issuance of asylum permits for them would be unimpeded; however, presently, no letter of recommendation is needed, and it is sufficient for a Baha’i element abroad to confirm that the asylum seeker is Baha’i.
According to Aati News, since the closure of the Baha’i organization in Iran in 1387 [2008/2009], we still see that letters of recommendation were issued to asylum seekers; while before the closure of the Baha’i organization, the low-ranking elements were not satisfied with the organizational elements.
An informed source also told Asti News: “Elements of the organization that used to have responsibilities now state that [they] do not have an organization, while the same people are secretly directing some elements of the organization in line with the sect’s goals.”
