Why Did Ebtehaj Leave?
On the day that Ebtehaj wanted to leave Tehran, he told some of his confidants and close friends at the corner of Mehrabad Airport, “I was thinking that conditions for service were ready, but I regret to see that systems are procrastinating in cracking down on corruption. I am going to the United States, and if there is a change in the situation of Iran and the ground is prepared for the reforms to begin, then I will return; otherwise I will resign from there.”
On the other hand, it is rumoured that Ebtehaj has sympathy with the Baha’is, and since Baha’i employees of the National Planning and Development Organization of Iran [Plan Organization] were to be fired, his trip became a matter of sulking and objection. But the truth of the rumour has not yet been clarified.
