From Combat against Bahaism to Catching the Religious Youth

History group – Mohammad Rahmani: In the first part of this report we were introduced briefly to the Society. In the second and last sections we will review the current activities of the Society.

The perspective of Imam Khomeini regarding the Society

Regarding the Hojjatieh Institute, Imam Khomeini tells speaker Nuri [chairman of the parliament], the ministers, and the minister of education of the time, “Do not entrust them with key positions. They are dangerous. Once they come, they will cause disunity among you, they will cause turbulence. They will pit the brothers against each other. They have a different agenda. They are after another issue. They were collaborating with the shah. For them, the issue of religion was not salient.”

In his 21 Tir 1362 [ ] speech, the great leader of the Revolution, noting the ideas of the Society, stated, “Another group has the theory that we should allow sinfulness to increase so that His Holiness the Saheb[ul Zaman, Muḥammad ibn Al-Ḥasan al-Mahdi, also known as Imam-e Zaman] will appear. Why will His Holiness the Saheb appear?  His Holiness the Saheb will appear [in order] to take away sinfulness. Now, should we commit sins so that he will appear?”

Imam Khomeini had intelligently realized that the closing down of the Society was motivated solely by [wanting to] save face and [because they did not] have the courage to face the leader of the Revolution. In a private meeting, by reminding us that “Society has interrupted its activities but has not been dissolved”, the imam said that the Society’s closure would be of no use unless it dissolved.

What does the Society say today?

Lack of belief in the authority of the Velayat-e Faqih [Guardianship of the Islamic jurist], severe enmity with Sunnis, false claims about the coming of and [ability to see] the Imam-e Zaman [Imam of the Time], organizing classes to train followers under the title of the Ladder of Knowledge, and Akhbarism and spreading of rumors, are considered among the contemporary beliefs of the Society. On such occasions as the martyrdom of His Holiness Imam Mohsen, Eid’ul Zahra (peace be upon her), week of unity, martyrdom of Her Holiness Zahra (peace be upon her), the birthday of the Imam-e Zaman, may God hasten His appearance and Eid al-Ghadir, the Society increases its activities under the guise of religious ceremonies.

The promoters of the Society, while infiltrating the religious groups, at first try to convince the victim about [his] religion by strengthening their emotional ties with him. The religious victim then envies the religiosity and detachment of the propagandist for a while until he gets ready for the final blow. . .
