Rahmatollah Vojdani

Rahmatollah Vojdani was born into a Baha’i family.  After completing his primary and high school education he entered a teacher’s training college and was employed by the Ministry of Education.  He was persecuted greatly during his lifetime and frequently transferred from job to job.  He tirelessly propagated the Baha’i Faith.  His son, Faramarz Vojdani was killed by religious extremists in the Philippines in July 1972 together with 2 other Baha’i youth.

Rahmatollah was arrested on 24 July 1984 and imprisoned in Bandar Abbas.  He was transferred to Evin prison some months later and then returned to Bandar Abbas.  He was tortured severely during his imprisonment and executed by firing squad on 31 August 1985.  His body was laid to rest by his family and in accordance with Baha’i law.
