A copy of the bill regarding prohibition of employment of those who are not believers of one of the religions of Islam, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity in the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was approved in the session of 29 Aban 1358 [20 November 1979] by the Islamic Revolution Council of Iran, and which was announced through letter number 402/03/47, [dated] 12/Azar/ 1358 [3 December 1979]  SAMAJA[3] 1 (Laws and Regulations), is [now] being dispatched forward for information and necessary actions.

Draft of Bill regarding prohibition of employment of those who are not believers of one of the religions of Islam, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity in the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran:

 

Single Article: The employment of those who are not believers of one of the religions of Islam, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity in the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran is strictly prohibited.

 

Addendum 1:Those who are not believers of one of the religions stipulated in this bill and were previously employed by the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the case that they are guided and truthfully accept Islam, remain in service as before; otherwise, they will be dismissed from employment.

 

Addendum 2: Retired [persons], pensioners, disability pensioners of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the case of those who are not believers of one of the religions stipulated in this bill, will be deprived of receiving relevant payments unless they are guided and truthfully accept Islam.

 

Addendum 3: Non-commissioned officers, civilian employees and those in the same category, retired [persons], pensioners, and disability pensioners who are indigent, are exempt from Addendum 2 of this Bill.

 

Addendum 4: the standard for being guided and truly accepting the religion of Islam is to show a written testimony from one of the religious jurists confirming the renunciation [of the applicant] from [illegible] and embracing the indisputable religion of Islam and publishing the details in one of the country’s widely circulated newspapers.

 

Number: 801/7/31-[Date]: 8 Dey 1358 [29 December 1979] copy of the above mandamus is being sent for information and to execute precisely its contents to the receivers of the 4th Army Legion.
