Born: 1922, Hamadan
Murdered in Tehran on 10 February 1981
Nouraniyyeh Yarshatir was born into a Baha’i family. She was persecuted greatly in her life because of being a Baha’i; she was often subjected to verbal insults by her fanatical neighbours and was even hit by a car on 2 occasions.
Then on 10 February 1981, while alone at home, she was murdered. The exact circumstances of her murder are unknown. Her body was discovered by her brother several days later. The police report indicated that her house had been forcibly entered into and that her wrists and throat were slit with a kitchen knife. The authorities ignored her brother’s pleas to find her murderers and bring them to justice.
