Nosratollah Sobhani- Executed by hanging in Tehran on 5 March 1985
Nosratollah Sobhani was born into a Baha’i family. When he was 9 years old, his family pioneered to Shirvan and later to Gonbad-e Kavus. In 1975 he pioneered to India for 5 years and returned to Iran in 1980.
He was arrested on 23 May 1984 in Tehran and imprisoned at Evin prison. His family was not permitted to see him for 6 months; finally his wife was allowed to visit him on two occasions in the span of one month, after which family visits were again suspended. Then on 4 March 1985 his wife was urgently called to Evin prison. She was permitted to observe his final interrogation and to speak with him for a few minutes. The following day she received news of his execution. He was executed by hanging on 5 March 1985.
