Comparing His Holiness Ayatollah Borujerdi With the Pope

We read in the previous issues of Ettehad-e Melli Newspaper about the situation in Vatican City and the influence and power of the pope, the leader of the Christian Catholic church. Now we will present another part of this article so we can reflect and cogitate on it marginally. We leave the judgment in this regard to the readers…

[Ettehad-e Melli Newspaper] stated that the highest Christian authority, who has the status of Ayatollah Borujerdi among the Christians, interferes in the affairs and exercises so much power that they have created an orderly and complete organization for him, which has the status of an independent state! His representatives and ambassadors, who are like the clergy in our cities, our Friday prayer leaders and preachers, are equivalent to the great government ambassadors and are equipped with all the means for a prosperous and comfortable life!

Unfortunately in the “country of flowers and nightingales” that is Iran, in these four-walls [the place] that has been named the “imperial country”, where thieves have struck and faith has disappeared, whenever a religious scholar, a prayer leader and a preacher, after forty or fifty years of education, buys a humble house to live in―from the Imam’s share or fees that he receives through preaching from the pulpit and giving sermons―instead of being appreciated for his efforts, the first words that come from the corrupt, disobedient and xenophilic children of this land addressed to him are epithets such as “freeloader”, “a burden on society” and other terms such as this, that usually come from the throats of foreign spies.

Why are you xenophilic intellectuals, who are so enthusiastic about the aliens that your eyes and ears are blind and deaf, and you have lost your intellect, that you do not consider the Christian priests, the Baha’i missionaries and their spies―who are freely engaged, with their elaborate organizations, in activities in your stolen land of Iran, as the “freeloaders” and “burdens on society”, but you are so insistent on staining the honour of Muslims and Iranians? ....

By the same token, we do not expect [anything from] them and their like-minded journalists, who have made it their journalistic duty to attack, slander and defame the Shiite clergy, since we know them very well. They also took the test during this period and said whatever the Master of Azal [higher power] dictated to them. Did we not see in this struggle against the perverted Baha’i sect how they passed their test of betrayal and espionage? The sheets of the worthless papers, such as the newspapers of Vahemeh, Eqlim and Sahar, slandered and defamed the struggle that His Holiness Ayatollah Borujerdi and the activities and perseverance of Mr. Falsafi, the famous preacher, had started. They, like the agents who were assigned to undertake a sensitive task, struggled and sprayed and poisoned the minds of the naïve people!

In any case, our scholars live with the utmost despair and disappointment. They hear nonsensical words from the people of their time but consider them all as though it did not happen....
