Gathering of the Clerics and Preachers
This week, meetings and gatherings have been held in Tehran by the distinguished clerics and Friday prayer imams, as well as the majority of preachers, regarding the recent events concerning the perverse Baha’i sect, as they try to settle the matter of Baha’is. On Monday afternoon, all clerics and Friday prayer imams, gathered at the home of His Holiness Ayatollah Khonsari. Conversations were held by His Holiness Ayatollah Behbahani and some other gentlemen around the problem of Baha’is. Also, Mr. Najafi Shahrestani, who has recently arrived from Qom, conveyed a message from His Holiness Grand Ayatollah Boroujerdi to this theological forum.
Following consultation, they decided to write an explanatory note to His Imperial Majesty and ask for expedited implementation of the triple requests of these gentlemen. As per information we received, the requests are:
- Passing of a bill at the National Consultative Assembly to render the Baha’i sect “illegal” and to suspend all Baha’i assemblies and gatherings—large and small—so that they would not have the right to hold any gathering.
- All Baha’is be dismissed from government departments and offices.
- All Baha’i public places be taken away from them and be given to the government by a legal Article.
The three following gentlemen—Mr. Haj Sheikh Mohammad-Ali Lavasani, Mr. Najafi Shahrestani, and Mr. Haj Bagher Agha Qomi—were elected to present the letter to His Majesty and request acceleration of its implementation.
The preachers and propagandists have also held gatherings and meetings these days and sent a telegram to His Royal Majesty to request expediency in settling the subject of Baha’is.
