New Egyptian Court Ruling Against Baha’is

In the first issue of the sixth year of the Egyptian Resalat al-Islam magazine, the above-mentioned article says:

“Recently, one of the Sharia courts in Egypt observed an incident which took place between a Muslim woman and her husband, who had renounced Islam and has converted to Baha’ism. The issue was that the Muslim woman was seeking a divorce from the court, because her husband was an apostate. The court considered the case and ruled for an immediate annulment of their marriage.

“We considered it appropriate to bring here what the court has mentioned in this regard. The court has issued its ruling in order to expose the Baha’i opposition to the principles and rules of the exalted religion of Islam. Those who have adhered to these superstitions will be expelled from the sacred realm of Islam.

“The court’s ruling is as follows:

“The ruling in this case (dealing with the divorce of a Muslim woman) first required discussion of the principles of the Baha’i Faith so that it could be determined whether or not the Baha’i ideology is in conflict with the principles and rules of Islam. Are those who adhere to this religion, in fact, outside the sanctuary of Islam? We have investigated this matter and what we have understood from Baha’is is that they believe: “Muhammad (PBUH) is not the Seal of the Prophets and the Quran is not the last heavenly book, and on the Day of Judgment, people will not be reunited with their faces in the world [with physical appearance], and only their souls will be present.” They also believe that Baha’u’llah, who is their leader, is a Messenger of God. As their Books say, “There are two Messengers by whose help this religion has reached the people on earth! Those two are Mirza [sic] Ali Muhammad, entitled “the Bab”, and Mirza Husayn Ali, who is his successor [sic]”. They also say that the month of fasting is not in Ramadan, but during nineteen days when the spring season arrives...etc.

“There is no doubt that this self-made religion is a prelude to such corrupt beliefs that it contradicts the indisputable principles of Islam and its everlasting laws, and that those who have adhered to this religion are not Muslims.

“In this regard, on 3 September, 1949, the clergy in Al-Azhar (Egyptian Theologian University) issued a fatwa[1] that: (Baha’ism is not a Muslim sect), and since one of the laws that most Muslims agree on is that a marriage between a Muslim and a Baha’i is to be annulled as soon as apostatizing from the religion [of Islam] occurs, and it is obligatory for the couple to separate immediately. For this reason, the court considered the request of the Muslim woman and ordered the annulment of her marriage.”

The above is a translation of an article published in the mentioned magazine that speaks of the humiliation of Baha’is. Now we are addressing the government officials of our imperial country.

Gentlemen, do you notice that in an Islamic country, even though the people are all from the Sunni sect, how a Muslim woman’s complaint has been handled and how they have immediately, without any delay, ordered her release from her Baha’i husband and how he was expelled and disgraced!!? You will also notice that Baha’is are not only humiliated and outcast in Iran but their religion is unofficial and fictitious, and in the eyes of the Muslim people, they are considered as foreign puppets, and members of a superstitious, fictitious and illegal group.

All their propaganda that says, “We have a certain number of members [Baha’is] in Egypt” and that “We have complete freedom and official status in some places”, is a lie and a fabrication. Here [in Iran], it is possible that some Baha’i spies who forcefully call themselves the Call of Truth, can see how this letter axes the tree of their existence; from this they can say “Yes, we exist even in Egypt!”

But I say that this article proves the insignificance of Baha’ism in Egypt since they are so unknown and low-key there. After a woman’s complaint, [the court] convened a meeting, and for the first time examined the Baha’i books and discovered their blaspheming and ridiculousness.

This shows that they did not have much fame and official status before this case and it also reveals that the Baha’is are not only hated by the Shiites, but also outcast and denounced by the Sunnis.

Yes, in Egypt, they convene a meeting for a minor incident by an unknown Baha’i and issue a ruling that the perverse Baha’i sect is illegal, but in Iran, where they have infiltrated offices like cancer and with tricks are calmly spying and sabotaging, and have committed thousands of murders and public crimes, they are still, so far, living in complete freedom. In Egypt, they refer to the board of the clergy for this small issue and decide on the faith of the Baha’is, but in Iran, a ruined no-man’s-land, despite the fact that the marja’-i-taqlid[2] of the Muslims around the world has issued a fatwa on their dissolution and the illegality of their political party, have not yet advised a decision on these foreign servants. Even Mr. Sardar Fakher Hekmat, contrary to the explicit text of the constitution, says that the parliament should not interfere in this matter, and there is no one to say what the parliament is for!
