In the Name of God

The Honourable Leader Ayatollah Khamenei

By supplicating to the Divine threshold, pleading and requesting that esteemed leader, I convey the following.

What is the value of the locust’s wing in the face of Solomon’s greatness and glory, to inflict to the highest degree, [the harassment of] the heart and body of an injured and sick woman, who has been under the pressure of all kinds of disasters for almost twelve (12) years?

Does it deserve to pollute the greatness of Soloman and the property at the disposal of Velayat-e-Faqih with less than the locust wing, or that the irrepressible sighs and cries of a woman reach your threshold? No, no.  I swear by the magnanimity of God, if you knew what has befallen me during these eleven (11) years, or what pressures are currently on my shoulders, you would not have sat on the throne of  justice of His Holiness, Imam Ali and would not have deprived me of your favour and mercy and would not have turned me away from your door. You would even have bestowed upon me the opportunity for a meeting. I am the widow of a retired army engineer, Hosein Vahdat-Hagh, who was at one point a professor at the military academy of the “Officers’ School”. In Mehr 1360, the Unit for Combat with Munkarat [prohibitions] arrested him because he was a Baha’i and born into a Baha’i family.

On several occasions, our residential apartment, which, according to the property deeds, belongs to me, was confiscated, including all electrical appliances, carpets, gold, etc., etc., and the vehicle was taken away before and after [his] execution. Ultimately, they executed him for his beliefs, as attested to by the case file and the order issued by Mr. Tabatabaie.  Now, twelve years have passed since the beginning of that process.

An organization called the Division in Charge of Enforcing the Imam’s Order, under the jurisdiction of the Velayat-e Faqih [Guardianship of Islamic Jurists], has claimed [the right] to cut off the telephone line of the apartment, which I own and is registered under the name of my husband, and register it under a different name. They also say that the basement, which is the only property that belonged to my husband, and which was rented and still is rented on trust by the Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office for eleven years (and they did not give me a penny of that rent), will be confiscated and occupied.

Your Holiness Ayatollah Khamenei, in 1360 [1981], the Shari’a judge, Mr. Tabatabaie, wrote in the order at the last minute, saying that he would not approve the refund [reinstatement] of (30) years of monthly salary for [my husband’s] service, due to repeated interrogation of my husband. Now, after eleven (11) years, when his corpse has already disintegrated, they are confiscating the possessions he obtained through his work and service in favour of the Division in Charge of Enforcing the Imam’s Order, “Properties under jurisdiction of the Velayat-e Faqih.” While some people have now been pardoned, and their salaries returned due to the leader’s order, additionally, our pensions have been cut off.

Your Holiness Ayatollah Khamenei, I swear to God that my husband’s possessions are less than a locust’s wing as compared with your majesty and glory. Therefore, I beseech Your Holiness, who is seated on the throne of justice of Imam Ali (peace be upon Him), to grant me a favour, and order that the sole residential apartment belonging to my husband, located in the basement and comprising two rooms and one hallway, and a telephone line belonging to him which is [installed] in my apartment, be returned to me by Mr. Nayyeri of the Revolutionary Court, so as to enable me to pay his debts, which, according to his will, I am obligated to repay by moral and ethical duty, and also some assistance might be given to me as a lone individual without support. In addition, I wish to inform you that the relevant officials have said, so far, and the previous verdicts indicate, that the property and car they took were in return for his government debts and have nothing to do with his apartment, and that they would be returned to me. My files at the Article 90 Commission – 12298/25 – 13 Ordibehesht 1361 [3 May 1982], are apparently being held by Mr. Nayyeri under order number 22794, dated 6 Khordad 1370 [27 May 1991]. I have enclosed a photocopy of my husband’s will, which I received from the Article 90 Commission and which they had obtained through correspondence.
